Creative explorations

Wherever I go I find inspiration, intrigue and possibilities. Where I look, no matter up, down, around, there is a wealth of material begging to be noticed, and yes I can't seem to let go of much of it. Fabric, trim, wooden bits, stone, shell, glass, gem, rusty remnant, sheep locks and tendril all are not safe from my wandering eyes. All are fair game to be married to past canvas dripping with paint and longing to have a voice far reaching than what once was.
And so I go on searching...

Thought I would add a few things I have worked on. I am so into creating with fibre these days. A peak at hand printed, felted, sewn pieces. They were fun to make and now the possibilities are taking up a lot of room in my head.

what to do what to do

Well, I have returned, waiting for the house to be free of foreign bodies this morning.
I'll put a photo up of the textile installation I finished last year.  Now I want them to become something else. But what?

Painting is coming along and I will post new works in a few days. Getting back to it has been a challenge but I am glad to say I'm back in the moment.

time

It's been quite a summer at the ranch, what was it Leonardo said about the absence of doing...something like, there is more done in the not doing than in the doing. So I am trusting that the stitching work I have completed has fed my painterly side. It will soon coming I feel it brewing ever upward...D.

New Series 2011 "Emergence"

Exploration of intuitive shape.

I am currently working on a series of large paintings which delve into primitive essence. Using mixed media I am free to explore marks, layer shape after shape, colour after colour, scraping, molding. The story continues...

what feeds a person? I don"t mean food I mean experiences.

November feeds me experience, from these sorted trials and tribulations which stimulate emotion and quantify life, I am sure to spew from a place I have never touched before. I will stay in touch as I work through experience, my life's journey...a new landmark for me.

"Passages"

“Passages”

Using time and passages as a point of departure, Greco infuses canvas with mark making, symbology (personal and representative), and colour.  Greco embarks on a personal journey as she considers the elements of time and the human passage through it. The impasto paint, carved, swirled and runny leaves one with questions of pertinence and relativity on the human journey.

additional scenes

"Art is nature as seen through a temperament."-Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot

Using paint to express a moment in time as the artist experiences it, is truly a gift.
I relate to the above quote, the recent paintings evoke such a thought well.

Great Wall of China

When asked to paint a scene from a recent trip to China, and specifically this image taken of the distant Great Wall, I was reluctant yet inspired. I did some research on it's great history and wanted to immerse myself in the importance of it's history and how it relates to humanity. I wanted to give it a sense of joy, hope and purpose. I hope I convey these elements to this customer. Alas when he came to view this painting he was in tears, wow what an effect creation can have, how lucky to be able to share a passion.
Keep on creating!
